ROOM 004 - The Forest Nursery

A nursery with a more grown up point of view. A warm, earthy nursery layered with natural timber, graphic pattern and playful woodland details.

the look

Collected, earthy and quietly playful.

This nursery starts with a warm, natural foundation and layers in colour, pattern and texture to give the room character.

A warm wood and rattan cot keeps the larger furniture light, while the deep olive armchair brings weight and contrast to the scheme. The putty-toned chest adds another soft neutral without everything feeling overly matched.

Pattern comes through the graphic diamond rug, striped floor lamp and checked throw, while the woven forest tapestry introduces a playful woodland reference without making the room feel themed.

Natural materials — wood, cane, woven fibres and tactile textiles — soften the stronger graphic elements, while small touches of rust and chocolate add warmth and depth.

A wavy timber mirror, fringed pendant and glossy ceramic letter bring in a few unexpected shapes and finishes.

The result is a nursery that feels warm and playful, but still considered enough to sit comfortably within the rest of the home.

The Palette

Keep the foundation warm, then layer in earthy colour.

Warm neutrals do most of the work, allowing deeper olive, rust and chocolate to bring character without overwhelming the room.

  • 55% WARM NEUTRALS

Oatmeal, putty and natural timber create a soft, warm foundation across the larger pieces and surfaces.

  • 25% EARTHY GREEN

Deep olive grounds the lighter neutrals and brings depth to the scheme without making the room feel dark.

  • 20% WARM EARTH TONES

Rust and chocolate add richness in smaller doses, connecting the patterned textiles, timber and decorative details.

Five circular color swatches arranged in a row on a light cream background, showing neutral and earthy tones: off-white, beige, olive green, muted terracotta, and dark brown.
  • 01 Keep The Big Pieces Grown Up

Choose furniture you would happily use elsewhere in the home, then introduce the nursery feel through smaller, more playful details.

  • 02 Mix Graphic with Natural

Pair checks, stripes and geometric pattern with timber, rattan and woven textures to keep the room feeling warm rather than overly busy.

  • 03 Layer Don't Match

Let different woods, patterns and textures sit alongside one another rather than buying furniture and accessories from matching ranges.

  • 04 Keep the Theme Subtle

One or two playful references are enough. A woodland tapestry brings personality without turning every element in the room into part of a theme.
