the look

Soft, layered and quietly unexpected.

This room is built around one standout piece: a dusty pink upholstered bed with a softly fringed edge that gives the scheme its character.

Rather than matching everything to the pink, the rest of the room introduces contrast. Deep charcoal brown bedside tables with a graphic faux-tile finish add an architectural edge, while the warm vintage inspired rug brings pattern and softness underfoot.

Crisp natural bedding keeps the centre of the room feeling calm, allowing the richer textures and colours around it to stand out.

The striped upholstered chair adds another soft layer, while the sculptural pendant and curved bedside lights bring rounded forms and warm metallic details into the scheme.

Above the bed, textured artwork adds depth without competing with the velvet headboard, while small touches of olive and deep brown keep the palette feeling grounded.

The result is soft but not sweet, decorative but not fussy - a bedroom with warmth, personality and just enough contrast to keep it interesting.

The Palette

Let the pink lead, then ground it.

The trick with this palette is to balance the softness of the dusty pink with plenty of warm neutrals and a smaller dose of deep, earthy contrast.

  • 50% WARM NEUTRALS

Warm cream, beige and natural linen create the calm foundation, keeping the room feeling light and allowing the richer colours to stand out.

  • 30% DUSTY PINK

Dusty pink brings warmth and personality, led by the statement bed and echoed through the softer tones of the rug.

  • 20% deep earthy accents

Charcoal brown and antique brass add depth and contrast, stopping the pink and cream palette from feeling overly sweet.

Five muted circular color swatches arranged in a row on a light cream background: off-white, warm beige, dusty rose, mustard brown, and very dark brown.
  • 01 Let one colour lead

Choose one defining colour and let it appear across the room in different shades, textures and proportions rather than matching everything exactly.

  • 02 Balance softness with structure

Pair soft upholstery and relaxed bedding with stronger shapes and darker finishes to give the room definition.

  • 03 Mix pattern with plain texture

Let one patterned piece make an impact, then surround it with quieter fabrics and tactile surfaces.

  • 04 Add something unexpected

A sculptural light, unusual furniture finish or statement artwork can give a softer bedroom a more contemporary edge.
